Is Victor Oladipo a three-and-done? It’s looking more likely, with this latest from ESPN’s college basketball rumors (subscription):
At 13-1, IU sits at No. 5 in the most recent Top 25, and the play of Victor Oladipo is a major reason why. Already a defensive catalyst coming into this season, the junior has evolved his offensive game as well. His 13.6 points per game place him second on the roster, behind only Cody Zeller. A year ago, he was fourth on the team in that department. What’s more, his new-found scoring hasn’t come at the cost of contributions on the other end of the floor. In fact, his 2.4 steals per game are good for No. 22 in the nation.
That all adds up to rising draft stock for the talented Hoosier. Our own Chad Ford projects him as a late first round pick at the moment, but notes that sustained production from long range (he’s currently hitting 3-pointers at a 45 percent clip) could shoot him up draft boards in a hurry.
Late last year, Hoosier fans wondered if Christian Watford was coming back – and Watford was never projected as a first-round pick (or even a second, for that matter).
