The Movement has lost a member:
Due to failure to meet academic requirements in summer school, former Broad Ripple High School basketball standout Ron Patterson will transfer from Indiana.
Patterson’s former AAU coach, Chris Hawkins, said the 6-3 guard had cleared all of the academic hurdles to enroll at Indiana, but did not meet all of the academic standards in summer school.
“It was a close call as far as him getting into school,” Hawkins said, adding that Patterson would likely seek a transfer to a prep school or another four-year school.
Indiana coach Tom Crean added:
“We think very highly of Ron and will continue to work with him as allowed to help him reach his goals. He has the chance to do some special things for himself and his family and we will be supportive of whatever he chooses to do.”
On the plus side, this solves Indiana’s scholarship problem. With Patterson, the Hoosiers had 14 players for 13 scholarships.
