With the announcement that Penn State is adding player names to its football uniforms, we headed to the #WeAre hashtag on Twitter to take the pulse of the Penn State Family. At first blush, it was quite measured.
Happy we’re honoring the players that stayed and paying tribute to the victims. Things change. Get over it. Move forward.

I’ll be honest. At this point, with bigger fish to fry, putting names on the jerseys doesn’t get me that worked up.

I thought i’d be mad if Penn State changed up their jerseys but I’m actually all for it after reading O’Brien’s statement

And then this:
Absolute Garbage with Names!!! “

To be fair, it’ll probably be garbage with or without names for a few years.
No Name. All Game. That’s the Penn State I know. Can’t believe they added names…not cool at all.

Insanity! RT

Then there are some who aren’t quite so accepting:
Names on jerseys?Getting closer and closer to that football culture NCAA accusedevery day
#smh#WeAre#pennstate — ToddJWill (@tjwills76) August 7, 2012Yes, it’s the names on jerseys that will cause culture problems around the Penn State football program.

Concise. To the point. Dan wins.
Update: Here are some more:
Real fans don’t need names on jerseys to know who the players are.
#WeAre— Chris Stanley (@PSUNCstan) August 8, 2012
he who complains about names on PSU jerseys can suck it, and you are dumb. Billy O just keeps getting better despite the situation.
#weare— Nathan Powell (@np5040) August 7, 2012
I found this one interesting:
Do I agree with “names on jerseys” – no. Do I agree with the reasoning behind it – yes. Will I support the team – YES 110%!!!!!
#WeAre— PSU1995 (@westillarepsu) August 7, 2012
This one is a head-scratcher:
Putting the names on jersey is a disgrace, so much for keeping it classy.

Not sure how that crosses a class line.
