Michigan runs into the 2012 season as the No. 8 team in the nation.
The preseason USA Today coaches poll is out, with a whole bunch of familiar names at the top and just four Big Ten teams in the Top 25.
LSU is No. 1, with 18 first-place votes, followed by Alabama (20 first-place votes), USC (19), Oklahoma and Oregon.
The Big Ten? Michigan is No. 8 going into its Sept. 1 season opener against second-ranked Alabama. Defending champion Wisconsin is No. 12, Michigan State No. 13 and Nebraska is 16th.
No other Big Ten school received a vote, as Ohio State is ineligible to be ranked in BCS standings due to NCAA probation.
