Ugh:
The Big Ten will maintain its Legends and Leaders division names after hiring a research firm that revealed two-thirds of people surveyed liked the labels that had come under heavy public criticism through media and social networking.
The conference said through a news release that the Legends and Leaders names “have some intrinsic value” and will be used throughout the 2012 football season.
Two-thirds? Who in the world were they talking to?
Surveys were conducted on Big Ten campuses during the 2011 football season, showing people became more accepting as the season went on. The one-third who did not like the names, which were introduced with Big Ten expansion in 2010, said they preferred geographical names and described the names as “confusing” and “arrogant.”
The Big Ten plans to “work harder to help fans understand why the names were chosen” and “understand who is in which division.”
I have a website called the Daily Big Ten, and I haven’t a clue which teams are in which divisions. Seems they have some work to do.

I’m an Indiana fan. The football divisions really don’t apply to such people.

The way I remember which is which is that the M’s, N’s, and Iowa are all in the same one. But sometimes I forget the name of that division.

I still think Legends and Leaders sound like something Ralph Wiggum would have created.
