The 2011 NCAA Women’s Volleyball Tournament has reached the Final Four, and Illinois is the only Big Ten school left standing. Despite the conference’s success in the early part of the tournament, the Illini were the only Big Ten school to even make it to the regional finals. On their way to the Final Four, the Illini defeated (in order of opponent) Central Michigan 3-0, Marquette 3-0, Ohio State 3-1, and Florida 3-1.
The National semifinal matches take place on December 15th in the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
The #3 seeded Illini will take on #7 seeded USC Trojans in the later 9:00 PM EST match, and on the other side of the bracket, the #9 seeded UCLA Bruins take on the #12 seeded FSU Seminoles in the 7:00 EST match.
The National Championship will be on December 17th at 8:30 EST, also in San Antonio.
All matches will be televised on ESPN2 and simulcast on ESPN3.com. A complete bracket of the tournament can be found here.
Good luck to Illinois!
